Situated just off Bocas del Toro on Panama’s Caribbean Coast and a short flight from Panama City, Punta Caracol is a unique eco-lodge experience. The lodge offers calm luxury and is sheltered by the surrounding archipelago with the Panama mainland three miles away. The resort's seven two-story thatch-roofed cabanas and suites are suspended over the water on wooden stilts, spiraling out from a long central walkway. At the open-air restaurant at the Punta Caracol Acqua Lodge you will find fresh seafood complemented by traditional and mediterranean dishes.
Each solar-powered duplex bungalow includes its own private terrace and deck. They are finished with native-hardwood floors and French doors that open to the bay and are equipped with wooden lounge chairs and woven floor mats. The bathrooms at Punta Caracol are lined with clay tiles and a green-and-yellow trim—brightly Caribbean without being gaudy. Upstairs, the open-air bedroom has a canopied king-size bed with natural-cotton drapes that double as mosquito nets, but you won't need them; the cool breezes off the water at night are enough to blow pesky insects away.
